Ripley Pierotti (she/they) is a 23-year-old writer, photographer, and filmmaker from the Bay Area. Ripley's interest in filmmaking goes all the way back to childhood when they first watched The Wizard of Oz and became fascinated with the film's surreal, technicolor atmosphere. As an adult, Ripley admires the work of filmmakers such as David Lynch and John Waters.
As a senior in Southern Oregon University's Media Innovations program, Ripley is currently pursuing a certificate in documentary filmmaking.
My goal with Doll Parts was to create a short horror story incorporating slight comedic elements while maintaining a tense, uneasy atmosphere.
As a child, I was always scared of my dolls at night and feared they would move around when I turned off the lights. This film is inspired by all the times I was afraid their blank little plastic eyes were staring back at me in the dark.
