JUDGING
Every script is assessed in the following craft categories: concept, plot, characterization, format, originality, structure, dialogue, conflict, pacing, theme, and tone.

CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
To enter the Competition, each Participant must submit the following materials at the Site during the Submission Period:
• An original narrative short-form screenplay;
• Short scripts must be no shorter than 5 pages and no longer than 15 pages;
• Material should be submitted in standard screenplay format, font, spacing and margin;
• Logline (50 words or less);
• Acknowledgement of these Official Rules;
• Screenplays may be in any genre
• No hard copy submissions will be accepted.

Submissions that do not conform to the technical requirements in these Official Rules will be automatically disqualified.

RULES
• Submissions are accepted via electronic submission on FilmFreeway.
• Diversity in Cinema Film Group does not offer waivers under any circumstances. Our fees simply pay for the awards and the costs of running the contest.
• There is no limit to the number of projects you may submit.
• New drafts, substitutions or corrected pages will not be accepted after initial submission of each Screenplay.
• Entries must be received on or before the deadlines. All entry fees are non-refundable.
• Once an entry has been made, we cannot provide a refund. If a payment is disputed, the account holder may be subject to any fees.
• Material must be submitted by the writer. Material written by writing teams must be submitted by one of the writers, with consent of the other(s). All writers must be credited on title page.
• If a writing team is chosen as a winner, prizes will be given to the person who submits the project. Each team is responsible for dividing or sharing the prize money.
• It is recommended that original material be registered with the WGA or The Library of Congress before submitting to any competition. Although this is not a requirement, it is highly suggested.
• All ownership and rights to the scripts submitted to this contest remains with the original rights holders.
• The decision of the judging panel is final. All judges, staff, and sponsors are immune from any competition disputes.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
• Must be a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and eligible to work in the United States at the time of entry.
• All scripts must be written in English.
• All writers must be at least 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
• If a writer has earned more than $30,000 from professional screenwriting in the past three years, they are not eligible. This excludes any prize money from competitions or fellowships and only applies to fund or money transferred in exchange for an option or sale of a script, treatment, idea, intellectual property, or other writing for filming. Money earned from acting, directing, producing, or any other film work outside of writing is not included.
• Scripts must not have been produced, optioned or sold prior to contest announcement date.
• All submitted material must be original, and all rights must be wholly owned by the writer(s).
• Adaptations are ineligible.
• Short screenplays longer than 15 pages will not be eligible.
• All material must be submitted electronically as a PDF or it will not be eligible.
• May not be, or have an immediate family member (including, without limitation, spouse, ex-spouse, domestic partner, ex-domestic partner, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, and step-children), and/or those living in entrant’s household (whether or not related) who is, an employee, officer, or board member of any of the following, either currently or within the last two (2) years: Diversity in Cinema Film Group or T-CAT Films, LLC. Any person or entity supplying prizes and/or services to the Competition or the Project; or

By entering the Competition, entrants represent that they satisfy the above Eligibility Requirements (to the best of their knowledge), as of the date of entry.

HOW TO ENTER/ENTRY FEE
Remittance of the Entry Fee, the amount stated on the Competition’s website, during the Competition Period, together with your completed Registration Form and short script entitles you to participate in the Competition and shall constitute your entry (“Entry”) in the Competition. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected registrations or entries, which will be disqualified.

The finalists will be notified by email. Entrants may be required to submit further information to assist in the verification of eligibility. Any entrant may be deemed ineligible at the sole discretion of Diversity in Cinema Film Group. Quarter-finalist, semifinalist, and winner announcements will begin 2 weeks after the final deadline. Finalists may be required to sign and return within five (5) business days of receipt a notarized Affidavit of Eligibility and a Release and Indemnification and any other documents that Diversity in Cinema Film Group or any other partner may require before receiving prize payment. Failure to respond to the initial notification within five (5) days or return of notification will result in disqualification. We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time
