Director Statement

Movies are the most perfect way to tell stories, for me. I'm a fan of movies that can not only entertain, but also make you think. But not "reflect on your behavior," but ponder and wonder what it's about. And what meanings are inside. That's how I built my movie "DESPAIR". My main goal was to leave the viewer with the desire to figure out what he or she had seen. I know from the previews that the movie achieves this goal every time, leaving the viewer alone with his impression and fascinated by the interpretation of the events of the movie.

"DESPAIR" - is a movie about life in a totalitarian state, about the feeling you get when all your plans along with ideals and dogmas are destroyed overnight by the state machine.
For me, "DESPAIR" - is a very personal movie, because in it I try to convey the whole gamut of feelings and the whole emotional process that was happening to me at the moment when Russia started its war of aggression against Ukraine.
