DEAR DARK-SKINNED BLACK GIRL
The project Dear Dark Skinned Black Girl is an ode to Dark Skinned Black Women around the globe. It teaches a valuable lesson about colorism and self love. If you allow it, there is a lesson for everyone to receive, despite race, gender or age.

Onyinyechukwu Akametalu is a Nigerian American director who specializes in film production, music videos, and brand content. She started her entertainment career at the young age of 16 choreographing for major African artist, but was on set one day when she realized she wanted to be more involved behind the camera. She made her directorial debut with short film “Wild Gyal”, a coming of age story inspired by her experiences growing up in the Nigerian American community, which went on to win many awards. Soon after she started doing commercial work and collaborating with creative teams behind social figures like Melina Abdullah, Schoolboy Q, Reason, and Wale. She aims to expand narratives, bridge gaps, and represent the underrepresented through her vibrant visual work.
