Dawkin's Rapture

Wracked with guilt after an apparent extra-martial coupling, clergyman DAWKINS returns home to his painfully devoted WIFE, whom, it seems, is willing to forgive his transgressions, even if he will not forgive himself.

Soothing himself on liquor, Dawkins awakens to discover there is no sign of his Wife. Or anyone else. With the power also out, and no way to contact the authorities, a bewildered Dawkins sets off on foot.

Discovering an outside world devoid of life, Dawkins is left the last man on earth, a realisation that he takes with very poor grace, pleading, then lambasting his seemingly ungrateful master. With his cursing giving way to a mental breakdown, Dawkins is at the point of literal self-annihilation, when he discovers a vast, spherical, bottomless pit in the ground, leading, it would seem, to the depths of Hell. Furthermore, it would appear he is not alone; something inside the darkness is staring right back at him…
