DARK VENICE Stories out of time

A door that opens brings "Curiosity" out in search of stories to listen to. Among the cold streets of a modern Venice, it meets different storytellers, with ancient and recognizable clothes, that in the icy Venetian nights reveal mysteries and tales of light and darkness of a forgotten city that still retains the signs of those events. In the flow of the narration, images of the past sometimes reappear in the present. A white or black spirit hovers over the city and accompanies the stories reliving the emotions and feelings linked to the ancient events. It dances to the notes of Mozart and Vivaldi, leaving a halo of mystery linked to details that are not always easy to recognize.

It is a short film shot in a week's time in Venice at night, by the movie director Francesca Del Santo. All the non-professional actors are not dubbed. The full winter night shootings were hard due to the cold, the tiredness and the weight of the equipment to carry. The film is inspired by Venetian popular tradition legends, collected by the author Alberto Toso Fei in almost 20 years of research. Modernity has led to forgetting the past of the city and, today, many Venetians do not know these stories. The director's intention was to exhume them and make them known by emphasizing the aura of mystery that surrounds them, combining it with a pinch of esotericism.
