DARK SUNS
In Mexico, hundreds of young women have been murdered in recent years. Migrants are kidnapped and enslaved, students are seized and disappear forever, peasant leaders are found dead while journalists are executed in broad daylight. The silence of the authorities and impunity encourages all kinds of abuses. Fear invades the countryside and the cities, the mountain trails and the highways. Mexico looks like a mass graveyard

To Come
Born in the early seventies, near Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges, in Montreal. He made his film debut with a short fiction film, Jusquiame noire, still unfinished. In 1997, he finds himself in Rwanda where he befriends a Croatian priest by the name of Vjeko Curic, murdered a few months later. He then makes He Who Knew Too Much, an investigative report on political crimes in that area. Towards the end of the 1990s, he begins a correspondence with death-row inmate Farley C. Matchett. This inspires him to direct The Last Meal, in 2002, a documentary film which delves into the heart of Capital-Punishment-America, in Huntsville, Texas. Reaching the age of thirty, he loses himself in a raging blizzard. Having survived, several years later he finds himself somewhere in Mexico, where he searches for an abandoned hotel in the hills of Michoacán, the very place where Luis Buñuel would go to write his films. It is perhaps from atop those cliffs that materialized the outline for Dark Suns.
