I was a crew member of the USS Independence the aircraft carrier used in the film 'Flight of the Intruder' starring Danny Glover and Willem Dafoe. As an extra on set I had a conversation with Danny Glover that set me on my path to becoming an actor. I was awarded Captains Commendations, Joint Services and Sea Service Ribbons for service during wartime ops.
While on film sets I was drawn to the process of filmmaking from camera knowledge to sound tech. It wasn’t long after that I bought my first dslr and started shooting documentaries for athletes and fitness brands. Eventually I wrote, directed and acted in my first scripted short, GUARD. Being a fan of sci-fi, I wrote and directed a sci-fi we series based around the disorder PTSD called CERULEAN. I recently completed a documentary about the inclusion of poc in the sports of rock climbing, surfing and brazilian jiu-jitsu called DARK BETA. Currently I am in production on a short dramatic film called SEND about survivors guilt and the road to recovery.
As an athlete involved in various sports I realized I didn't see many people of color in any of those settings. So, I sought out people that were creating safe spaces for people of color and inner city youth who couldn't afford to participate. I hope with this documentary I can help highlight the work of these people spreading good in their communities and maybe larger organizations with get involved and help support these initiatives.
