Cycle Path is my debut as a Writer and Director, but as a Producer, this isn’t my first rodeo. As an NFTS Craft Skills graduate and a BFI Network Creative Producers Lab participant, I have a wealth of experience as a Producer, but I still have much to learn. Starting out in the Film industry, I worked in a range of crew roles from hair and makeup to props dressing, which I feel has influenced my passion for creating a fun and comfortable atmosphere on set. It’s important to me to have respect for my team and treat everyone with kindness, adding to the joy of making films.
The climate crisis has been a topic of conversation for us young people for many years now. We’re tired of being told to do everything we can to save the planet, when we really know that it's the people in charge who can make the biggest difference.
In Cycle Path, the main character is frustrated from having to save the planet by doing small actions like cycling to work. He knows who's really to blame and goes to extremes to get climate justice.
I wanted to get more people talking about the environment, which is why I tried to make the film informative and entertaining through the spoken word/musical style. Akins brought the perfect blend of charisma and comedy in his performance as the lead, only elevating our film as a whole.
