Cycle Maayen

‘Cycle Maayen’ is a docufiction on the life of late B Govinda Rao, the founder of the BTH Group of Hotels in Kochi. Govinda Rao has augmented the hospitality industry and helped in building a culture of pure vegetarian cuisine in Kochi. ‘Cycle Maayen’ features Rao’s life, the establishment and growth of BTH and his contributions to the development of hospitality and tourism in Kochi. Moreover the film aims to chronicle a period in history while recording the works and activities of Rao through anecdotes from his old friends and renowned personalities. He was fondly called Cycle Maayen (Tulu for Cycle Uncle) as he went around the city riding a bicycle during his initial days as an entrepreneur.

Director Biography - Madhupal

Madhupal is an Indian film actor, director, and writer working in Malayalam film industry. He started his career in films as an assistant director to eminent film makers like Bharath Gopi and Rajiv Anchal. He made his acting debut in Kashmeeram (1994) and has acted in over a 100 films. Thalappavu (2008), his big screen directorial debut about Naxal Varghese, won him the Kerala State Best Debut Director award. His second film, Ozhimuri, was selected for Indian Panorama 2012 and the lead actor Lal received the Special Jury mention at the 60th National Awards. It also won the Kerala State Second Best Movie Award. His third feature film Oru Kuprasidha Payyan won the Kerala Film Critics Award 2018 for the Best film and the Best Director. Cycle Maayen is his first documentary film.
