Cuttlefish in Love
Despite our fascination with Cephalopods, not much is known about mating behaviors for cuttlefish. According to NatGeo, mating cuttlefish were first filmed in the wild in 2017 (by accident) and it caused a stir because it was much more violent than what had been observed in captivity. Since then, the BBC (Blue Planet II) has documented mating for the Giant Australian Cuttlefish (Southern Ocean) and there are other films of this species, but I don't find much information about other species such those found in the tropics.
This film explores the subject and shows mating behavior for three different cuttlefish species: aggressive behavior for the large Pharaoh and the small Flamboyant and a full mating sequence for the common Broadclub cuttlefish.
