Cut Corners
A music video edited by Edward Tuazon for TFSO VPOL 300.
In this version of the Cut Corners Music Video, I have decided to take a faster-paced approach throughout the video. Having this technique used, I realize this would suit best due to the music’s lack of rest when it comes to the lyrics. The best example for this would be at 1:22 when the song transitions from the chorus to the second verse.
I wanted to give this song a little ‘roughness’ in the mix and that is why I used a gritty ‘Hole’ transition throughout the video. It helps give a bit of the Toronto ‘West Side’ tradition. For the start of the song at 0:18, I wanted to take advantage of the slight lyric break with an animation to properly introduce Bryonge, the song title, and a little touch at the bottom left with the song’s origin, The neighbourhood of Weston.
Overall, I wanted to give this music video more energy than it sounded. I wanted to ‘modernize’ the grading, and seamlessly add the storyline where it sounded like it belonged in
the lyrics.
