An ex pro athlete, Joel Cocciolone, left the world of sports, gave away everything he owned then painted his way across the county living in his car with his dog. It took him over a year of struggle and constant on the spot creation to reach LA in order to pursue his passions of filmmaking, acting and fine art. Once arriving he quickly got to work writing, directing and acting in his own short films, progressing towards features in order to communicate the with the masses via the language of Cinema.
As a director, I really wanted to tell a unique story and capture the in-between of extreme physical moments, like that found in fight scenes. I wanted to use particular angles and extreme close ups of the intense physical movements while utilizing slow motion in a more syncromatic way. All this to help tell the story with a more engaging visual style that accents the skills and power involved in fight scenes. This, all enveloped in a grounded creative story with a wee bit of humor that leaves the audience provoked and wanting more.
