Cuckoo
A chance accident at a care home awakens an elderly resident’s long-forgotten sleeper agent identity and causes the care home’s newest and unlikeliest volunteer to confront their own shameful past.
Chasing redemption, the new volunteer faces an emotional fight or flight decision as she grows increasingly attached to her new, elderly friend struggling with his escalating ‘delusions’.
Simultaneously, the surprise resurface of the innocent and forgotten sleeper agent unintendedly creates a chain of events that lead to his former agency to seek a fatal resolution – with consequences for him and those who might know his secret.
Fortunately for the elderly resident, the off-the-books hitman hired for the job is suffering a reverse ‘midlife crisis’; seeking to escape the excitement of his job for the simple life – a new life, and a chance to start again with his past behind him.
The volunteer’s passion and new-found dedication to caring for others inadvertently precludes the threat heading their way and unknowingly quells a perilous moment just in the nick of time.

My passion for screenwriting began in my teens. Television was my escape from the boredom and often harsh realities of the small Yorkshire mining town I grew up in. I admired that ability to create worlds others can immerse themselves and feel safe in. I was born into a small family of only five known relatives who all had learning difficulties, which made learning to write on my own as a young teen extremely difficult. I was lucky enough to meet my wife, and co-writer on this screenplay, as we were preparing to leave school. She taught me many writing skills, but also helped me apply for University. After enrolling, and being the first in my family to do so, I begin writing screenplays in my spare time. My highest grade at university was for a short screenplay about a widow who was grieving (with sneaky twist in the end).
