Cucho López Capilla, Director | TV Technician | Camera | Editor
Born in Melilla and raised in Málaga, Cucho López Capilla developed his professional career at Melilla Municipal Television starting in 1998 as a TV technician. During his career, he has held various key roles, including ENG cameraman and editor/editor. In recent years, he has also led the artificial intelligence department at Tvmelilla. He considers both cities, Málaga and Melilla, fundamental to his personal and creative identity.
His interest in film began in childhood, influenced by visits to Málaga cinemas and a fascination with visual narrative as a means of telling stories.
He has approached directing short films and documentaries as a self-taught artist, developing initial projects independently and without external funding, which has shaped a career based on experimentation and a passion for the medium. To date, he has directed the following works:

El Taconeo (2018)
The largest and most extensive project to date, notable for its cast, crew, and story entirely from Melilla, and its focus on the acting direction. It has been selected for several official awards.
¿Me perdonas? (2019, Minimalist Drama)
This minimalist drama, shot in a single sequence shot and focusing on the intensity of a brief interaction between a mother and her daughter, is the director's most recognized work to date, accumulating more than 60 selections at national and international festivals.
Donde brilla la ausencia (2025, Experimental AI Animation)
An experimental animated short film, developed with artificial intelligence tools, that explores an impossible love in the Mediterranean setting.
Co-Do (2025, Mockumentary)
A fake Spanish newsreel that emulates the style of period newsreels to narrate a hypothetical extraterrestrial visit to the city of Melilla in 1945.
