Cubanacuática

‘Cubanacuática’ seeks to capture the diverse, complex and often overwhelming brilliance that is Cuba. Combining underwater footage with that of street musicians, we hear a song of welcome about a place with much to offer both visitors, ‘extranjeros’, and locals. With a touch of magical realism we are carried between waves and voices to consider how the world of humans might be perceived by sea creatures. The lionfish, an invasive species in the Caribbean, introduces the song, its lingering presence symbolic of ‘extranjeros’ on both land and sea that profoundly impact island communities and ecosystems.
