Crushed

Ember is a high school girl with too much on her shoulders. Her two best friends are on the verge of coupling off and she’s afraid she’ll be left alone. Things at home with her mother are unimaginably terrible. This is not the best time for her new neighbor, Asher, to start crushing on her.
When things go bad, just remember: they can always get worse. Will Ember find a way through her last year of High School, or get crushed under the weight of her own life?

Director Biography - Emma Roark, Hunter Meritt

Emma Roark is the writer and co-director of Crushed. This project began during her senior year of high school when she teamed up with the Richland County VAT Club. Though she graduated from Richland County High School in May 2016, post-production continued through the summer before the premier in October of the same year.
Roark has always loved performing in front of audiences. In middle school, she participated in Speech Team and musical productions at OCC. Once she entered high school, Roark participated in the musicals and plays offered by the Drama Club and read as many books as she could to study the format of an intriguing story. In Roark’s senior year of high school, all of the knowledge from these activities converged to create Crushed.
Crushed is Roark’s first screenplay and her directorial debut. She lives in Dundas, Illinois, with her parents and two younger sisters. Currently, she is studying at Olney Central College (OCC).
