Half British and half French, Giacomo Gex grew up in Egypt and Spain. Being brought up around people from all corners of the world he was strongly influenced by the many stories that surrounded him. It was images that always captivated him and since the day he was given his first camera at the age of 13 he has been unable to put it down. Giacomo would spend his free time directing friends on the streets, capturing the scenes as they unfolded. He progressed through his later teenage years into wedding films in order to support himself financially. These would give him the training for his later documentary work. At the age of 21 he made his first short film based on first hand experience with his father. It was in his mid 20s that he began to find his voice with documentary filmmaking, a style he developed and also used for his scripted films. Giacomo is currently working on his latest project - a documentary feature film about a young man searching for buried treasure in the Philippine jungle.
