Anusha Thulung Rai is a visual artist and filmmaker based in London, holding an MA in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work, shaped by her anthropological background, investigates cultural transformation through the mediums of film and photography. Anusha's projects blend artistic expression with ethnographic study, exploring how globalisation and modernity reshape cultural practices. Anusha’s work highlights the ongoing negotiation between tradition and contemporary identity.
Crown Photo Plaza is a meditation on photography as an art and a reflection of human experience. The film examines the shift from the painstaking artistry of analogue photography to the immediacy and precision of digital. At the same time, it subtly comments on the effects of globalisation, where passport photos now symbolise movement, identity, and change.
The photographer's pride in his craft remains unwavering, serving as a testament to resilience and dedication in the face of changing times. Through this story, I hope to capture not just the transformation of a craft, but also the quiet dignity of those who adapt while staying true to photography.
