Director Biography - Ross Barnes

Ross Barnes is a filmmaker and multimedia artist born and raised in the hidden mountain town of Wrightwood, CA - moving to Santa Cruz at 18 to attend film school at the University of California. There he produced a number of narrative, documentary, and found footage shorts in association with the school’s production department, the Film Production Coalition, and SCTV. His work is preoccupied with physical media, cultural historicism, and underground art movements, often using videotape and film in conjunction with digital technologies. Ross also records and releases twee-pop and power-pop music under the monikers ‘The Snogs’ and ‘Campus Tramp’, works with the LA-based tape label OJC Recordings, and is the Chief Editor of a pop fanzine. His dream is to produce original video and sound based pop art for the rest of his life, while archiving overlooked physical media of the past.
