Creating Through COVID
Creating Through COVID explores how artists have been pursuing their passions during the COVID-19 pandemic. We profiled seven artists in Ithaca and Tompkins County who are members of the Community Arts Partnership and/or State of the Art Gallery and have been working during the pandemic, when many art communities have failed to survive due to a lack of funding, less community engagement and an increase in isolation. The Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County is an organization that provides grants, programs and services to foster the local arts community. Part of CAP’s programming is the Greater Ithaca Art Trail, a map of artists’ studios that showcases their work during public events, including the monthly Art Trail Walkthrough on the first Saturday of every month. This documentary explores how artists in Tompkins County have used this time to continue to produce artwork in a variety of mediums while staying connected to the Ithaca art community. This program was produced by Skylar Eagle, Lauren Leone and Gabrielle Topping, who are students in the Roy H. Park School of Communications Department of Journalism at Ithaca College.
