Country Midwife
Home births are a normal part of country life for many women in rural Texas— sometimes they're the only option. More than 7 million women in the U.S. live in maternity deserts, areas without access to birthing facilities or maternity care providers. Based in Abilene, midwife Sabrina Elliott travels the vast countryside of West Texas to help mothers with nowhere else to turn.
