Watching animation since a kid (up until today), art and visual had became a big part of her life. After finding out it’s easier to convey thoughts and feelings through visuals, she decided to pursue her studies in art and design at one of the most prominent state university in Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung. Despite all that, she is still the girl who would put two tablespoons of sweet soy sauce into her Mie Ayam (Chicken Noodle).
I can't exactly remember when was my first time watching animation, but I can remember that my eyes would be glued to the screen whenever there's an animation on TV as my mother warned that it would affect my eyesight. In my upbringing, animation has the power to extend life and show things outside of reality, whether it’s a weirdly shaped character or an unrealistic world.
I'm not good with words, and for me, animation (or simply drawing or visualizing things) can easily convey a feeling and an idea rather than words. If for me a tree is shaped like a birthday hat, I can just go draw it, there's no exact answer. The same goes to interpreting musical instruments to visual, if the sound of the violin gives me the idea of a view from a bird flying up in the sky, just go draw it.
I like how this music video gave me the opportunity to be playful: there is no right or wrong, no exact answers, there’s only the freedom to fly.
