Correspondence Poem or Mirror Island

In this ecofeminist and deeply personal testimonial about the island experience in the context of being a creator, the poet delves into how the island – with its blank-slate horizon, guarantor of possibilities – becomes the sine qua non environment for her (re)birth, self-affirmation and the assertion of her very deepest convictions. A letter to herself and to others, an ode to Nature and the little island of Prince Edward, this dreamlike exploration engages the public in a singular dialogue, asking the question: can we keep hope alive?

Director Biography - Hélène Lebon

At eight years old, Hélène Lebon wanted to become a “hyphen” when she grew up, to connect people by telling each other's stories, like the little line between words.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from UQAM, a Master's degree in institutional and political communication from Carlos III in Madrid, and a Master's degree in teaching French as a second language from Nanterre, Paris. Hélène has spent almost half of her life outside of her home country, France, living in Canada, Spain, and the United States. Five years ago, she co-founded Lebon Trait d’union, a content company specializing in writing, video production and marketing. Lately, Hélène has been exploring more artistic and personal content through documentaries, a genre she holds dear to her heart. She wishes to delve into topics such as territory and body while bringing to the screen the extraordinary stories of ordinary people, with a fresh female perspective.
