Corner of the World

In the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, in March 2020, a Brazilian hospital specialised in Palliative Care took an extreme decision to protect its patients, mostly elderly, with serious diseases and extremely high risk for covid-19. The hospice closed its doors with the medical and administrative staff, patients, caregivers and volunteers, establishing a community isolation that was not seen in any other health institution in the world.
In contrast to what was experienced outside, the group of about 150 people gathered for cinema sessions, soirees, barbecues. They could touch themselves and give up wearing masks.
Corner of the World explores the day-to-day of this unique experience, telling stories of surrender and resignation, of breaking hierarchies and dedication to life.
