Lidmercy Marrero Girón is a film director and creative producer from the Dominican Republic. She is a graduate from RIT’s School of Film and Animation in Rochester, New York. She is passionate about filmmaking as a tool for diverse representation and portraying social issues on screen and mixed media. The films she has collaborated on have gone to festivals such as Slamdance, UCLA x FilmFest, LA Independent Women Film Awards, TIFF.
Since mass print media became popular, advertising has established a commercial empire that has evolved into a multi-billion industry. It has also served as a historical archive of social contexts. "Consumed" explores the relationships that mixed and new media has had throughout the 20th and 21st century on the perception of feminity, and how patriarchy and capitalism have come to influence it.
