Director Biography - Amber Dawn Hongsermeier

Amber Hongsermeier is an interdisciplinary movement artist, educator, and dance filmmaker. She received her BA in Dance with a history minor from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where she was awarded the Porter Award for Creativity in Dance. In 2021, she earned her MFA in Dance from Rutgers University, where she worked as a part-time lecturer in the dance program. Her choreographic, performance, and educational background span commercial and concert dance spheres as well as in nightlife. Due to the loss of in-person performance opportunities from the COVID pandemic, Hongsermeier turned to the medium of film to continue creating and sharing work. Originally from Nebraska, she resides in New Jersey, where she works as a full-time dance professional.
