Director Biography - Lottie Brown

Lottie is a South West based Filmmaker. Having worked in many aspects of film; from sound recordist to DoP, editor to art director, she discovered her love for documentary and the role fluidity of its nature.

Shortly after her directorial debut on a 16mm narrative led commercial, she began production on 'Rose-Tinted'; the first film of what is becoming her signature style. Difficult to pin into one genre, it derives from admiration of narratives' ability to ground fictitious storylines through allegorical and visual metaphors, and passion for documentary film's motivational and evocative truth.

As such, elements from both genres often creep into her work. To date, this has comprised of combinations such as interview voiceovers paired with carefully constructed imagery, as well as candid footage used to illustrate a script.

Using archive footage to tell this story is a nod to the current zeitgeist; working with what already exists to eliminate both production contact and environmental impact. The poem itself was also provoked into existence by the times. Its imagery so beautifully references the cyclical nature of the world, and how stagnation can cause these ever present cycles to be questioned by human emotion. It serves as an elegant reminder that all things will come and go.
