Writing and directing Cores was an act of profound vulnerability and wholehearted commitment. This film carries a piece of my soul, as it represents my personal journey of allowing myself to experience the full spectrum of life’s emotions and embracing, with pride, my own sexuality. Creating this work with an all-female team in the heart of Goiás, one of the most conservative states of Brazil, was also a meaningful opportunity to engage with issues that still resonate deeply in our society—particularly in settings where sexual freedom and social roles remain constrained by conservative perspectives. Cores is more than just a depiction of the past; it is a call to look beyond, to allow ourselves to feel and live fully, and to embrace the truth of who we are in all its complexity and beauty.
