Coloring Outside the Lines
Coloring Outside the Lines chronicles the life-or-death journey of four cancer patients and the doctors who may have found the key to unlocking a new treatment approach that could save their lives and the lives of the hundreds of thousands of others living with the deadliest form of leukemia.
This is a David and Goliath story about a nonprofit organization that stepped up and did something that no nonprofit had ever done before — launched and helmed the first-ever collaborative master clinical trial in a blood cancer to take on acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
This story follows four people from across the country who were given months or less to live after receiving a diagnosis of AML.
Each patient featured had enrolled in the landmark Beat AML Master Clinical Trial as part of an incredible endeavor to see if it was possible to find a personalized treatment for their cancer instead of using the decades old chemotherapy approach that is extremely toxic and oftentimes ineffective.
Moment by moment, this story documents how this trial expanded to ultimately offer 15 different personalized treatments to match individual cancers. This is an eye-opening story about a group of scientific visionaries and the patients who trusted them—and how they’re changing the world.
