The Colorado International Film Festival strives to set a standard for excellence in recognizing the important work of emerging talent and masters of the cinema craft around the world. Quite simply, it is our mission to discover and celebrate extraordinary films.

The Colorado International Film Festival recognizes excellence in filmmaking in several categories with the prestigious Colorado Film Awards. The Awards Committee awards deserving films and screenplays in the following categories: Feature Film, Documentary Film, Short Film, Animation, Student Film, Feature Screenplay, Short Screenplay, Direction, Music Video, First-Time Director, Cinematography, Experimental Films, Editing, Acting and a Screenplay Competition.

In addition, Special Jury Prizes, cash awards, and prizes from our sponsors will be awarded to several standout films and screenplays at the discretion of the Jury.

The Colorado International Film Festival was created as a platform to provide recognition to superior and standout films, screenplays, and artists who demonstrate excellence and originality in their work and crafts.

The Colorado International Film Festival is a non-traditional online film festival. Films are not physically screened for the public. Awards will be announced via our official website, targeted email blast, social media, and Internet promotional channels. It is requested, though not required, that awards won be mentioned in the promotional materials of the films being awarded. Awarded films may be displayed on our official YouTube channel and our social media pages at the discretion of the winning filmmakers.

Categories of Competition

Narrative Features
Narrative films over 45 minutes. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.

Documentary Features
Documentary Film over 45 minutes. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.

Animated Films
Animated films of any length or genre. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.

Short Films
Short Films are narrative, animated, experimental, music videos or documentary films under 45 minutes. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.

Student Films
Student Films are films of any length or genre written, directed or produced by a currently enrolled student. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.

Colorado Films
Colorado films are films that are made in some capacity by a Colorado resident or films that showcase the diverse aesthetics, subjects, and locations of Colorado.

Screenplay Competition
The competition includes both a feature length and short length Screenplay Competition.

Television
Films and videos produced for television. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.

Rules and Regulations

The Colorado International Film Festival was created as a platform to provide recognition to superior and standout films, screenplays, and artists who demonstrate excellence and originality in their work and crafts. CIFF is a non-traditional online festival and films will not be screened for the public. Awards will be announced via our official website, targeted email blast, social media, and Internet promotional channels. It is requested that awards won be mentioned in the promotional materials of the films being awarded.

Submission dates listed are postmark deadlines.

All submissions are handled fairly and equally, regardless of which deadline you choose. Late submissions are screened and judged in the same manner as early submissions. However, we encourage you to submit as early as possible.

All non-English films are required to have English subtitles.

You agree to indemnify us and hold us and our employees, owners, affiliates, and partners harmless from all claims and liability associated with your participation or entry to the Colorado International Film Festival.

By submitting your film into competition in the Colorado International Film Festival you agree that you have read, accept, will abide by all rules and regulations.

Screenplay Competition Rules:

Entrants retain all rights to their work.

Screenplays 45 pages or longer are considered feature length.

Screenplays with more than one author are accepted.

Adaptations are accepted.
