Director Statement

My dream as a filmmaker is to tell stories about Jamaican characters rooted in Jamaican culture that also deal with universal themes like love, loyalty and the impact of technology on mankind. Code is a film that is inspired by the idea of Rastafari as a noble and highly spiritual response to global injustice. The imagery of Rasta as a noble warrior for good has been established in the collective consciousness by Reggae music and my dream is to extend that imagery to cinema. Judah, the protagonist of Code, is the embodiment of that dream. He is both the very human, bright loving son of a Rastafari elder as well as a heroic character who is the meeting point of the ideals of Rastafari and modern technology.
