Director Statement

The idea for this movie came together when my house flooded in May of 2023. One of my roommates left the upstairs bathroom sink on, and the result was a complete reinstallment of the insulation and drywall in the ceiling to avoid mold growth from the moisture. The idea of toxic, deadly mold hiding behind perfectly fine-looking drywall got my brain moving.

Clyde Petri is an amalgamation of what I see as the most troubling characteristics of modern masculinity. He is a walking id, entirely informed by today's toxic media and consumer culture. I wanted to explore what exactly it might take to get a heinous character like this to acknowledge the mold growing in his ceiling.
