Director Statement

Closer is a transcendental animated film that was inspired by Søren Kierkegaard's philosophy, especially the quote "Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards".

I challenged myself to make an animated film with limited resources, all by myself -complete with music and sound design. Closer was made with a free and open source software pipeline.

With a whimsical low-poly visual style to make the protagonist's life "feel" uncertain, vulnerable and imperfect, I hope that Closer shares the emotional resolutions I had found with wisdom and compassion.
