Director Statement

My vision for this short film came out of wanting to see real female friendships and relationships depicted on screen, and wanting to make something I believed in deeply, with people I believe in. The female friendships I have been privileged enough to experience are filled with love, and full of support and humour and kindness and depth; they are not shallow relationships that rely on cattiness or interest in a man, as they are so often depicted. I wanted to show what I know, and I am so proud of what we accomplished with Close Your Eyes. With a small, volunteer crew that was almost entirely women, including an all-female cast and post-production team, the Close Your Eyes set was such an open and honest environment, and I am so proud of the work that everyone put into this project.
