Close Up (part of Num-0, Tan Sólo Un Punto de Vista)

Close Up is the video element from a bigger work, Num-0 But What or Who Determines That It Is, Indeed, An Illusion? A digital dance-based work (to be made into a live installation in the future) that is made of 3 parts: a poem, a photography work and a dance film. Is is a self-produced, fully self-made work that plays with the idea of perspective in literal and metaphorical ways, and presents dance through different mediums. The link to the full work (poem, photography and film can be found here is provided separately (website link).
The piece is the first of a series of works that use dance and movement to explore ideas about perspective. We understand perspective as the points of reference each individual has to understand and perceive things, and therefore something that influences what and how we connect or reject what we come across with. We are interested in exploring what affects our perception even with what concerns our most basic experience: being a human being and the multiple options in how this is experienced and expressed.
In the film, we are presented with two individuals from whom we see often only very close up shots, which intentionally or not, as it happens when we see and observe things, capture only parts of what’s going on, of the person, of what and how they communicate. This affects the perception and what we receive from them, as well as our interaction.
