Clomipramine

A short narrative drama based on a true story:
The story follows an unnamed protagonist prescribed daily to take Clomipramine (a type of SSRI antidepressant), the primary method of treating harm Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Taking clomipramine comes with extreme side effects such as lifelessness and depression, which force the protagonist to carry himself through a mundane work-life and put up with unpleasant customers. Ultimately, the protagonist is forced to choose between continuing to take Clomipramine or suffering the consequences of not taking it.

As of May 2023, I am a Junior attending Mamaroneck High School. Video editing has been one of my primary interests for many years. When entering high school, I was given the opportunity to take film class which is where I developed a love for cinema. Over the last three years, I have been writing and creating short films as well as creating other film content.

Director Statement

This film was based on a true story told to me by my film teacher about a young child diagnosed with harmful Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Clomipramine, one of the main treatments for this disorder, has side effects like lifelessness and depression. I created this film to illustrate the lack of options patients with this disorder have.
