Clean
After years spent apart, Saba hosts an intimate family lunch to celebrate her sister Mehr's homecoming. Although Mehr is elated to see her elder sister and her family, the feeling seems to be unrequited. While things seem to go smoothly at first, an unfortunate turn of events causes the afternoon to spiral into a crisis that tests both sisters and puts a family member at risk.
Soon after, a confrontation follows that threatens to upend their relationship entirely.

After spending almost a decade working as an Assistant Director in the Hindi Film Industry in Mumbai on films like Gully Boy, Ghost Stories, Choked and shows like Sacred Games (Netflix), she moved on to work as a Showrunner on a series for Netflix in 2020 (Yet to be released). Clean is Zoya's debut as a writer-director . She looks forward to writing and directing her first feature film in the near future.
The genesis of Clean lies in the amalgamation of lived experiences and the desire to create a narrative that is driven by complex female characters. It is a film that underscores the weight of intergenerational trauma and family dysfunction - something that is often swept under the rug in our society. Although Clean is deeply personal to me, simply put - it is a story of two sisters whose relationship is fraught with resentment on one end and with the desire for redemption, on the other.
It is my hope that the film will resonate with many others - and that the audience may identify with the characters in some small way or empathize with their story as it unfolds in the film.
