Civil War Day
This production utilizes a full day of video experience from the April 27, 2019, Cowtown Civil War Day. The shoot is edited into a sixteen-minute documentary about the cause and effect of the American Civil war – applying a wide range of events into a single message. “A nation divided in social beliefs is subject to multitudes of lives left on the battlefield.” The message gained from the production supports the historical outcomes behind a nation divided from constitutional beliefs, which had an everlasting impact on the fate of one nation. A republic must understand its differences as a nation and rely on its constitution to prevent the repeat of such an “American Tragedy.”

Michael King BIO
Michael King is a retired national award-winning principal. As an educator, he spent the majority of his forty-two year career-teaching teachers how to use digital media in the classroom. His first experience with videography and documentaries was in 1982 when he produced, for the Goddard Foundation, a documentary entitled “Camp Goddard.” His educational career expanded over time to the Digital Centennial Project where he taught the art of digital story telling, encouraging classrooms all across Oklahoma to tell the stories of their communities. Michael now spends his time writing and producing stories of the old west. He lives in Dodge City with his wife Sheralyn and is enjoying his time there as a member of the board of directors for Boot Hill Museum, where he has opened his first video production business, Boot Hill Productions.
