Cinematica is an international festival that deals specifically with the image-movement relationship in the visual and performing arts. The festival, along with the programme that includes video and film screenings, performances, exhibitions, installations and laboratories, wants to convey new trends in audiovisual and performance experimentations, with a strong focus on bodily and perceptual root.
We collect artistic proposals on videodance films for the 2025 edition (23-25 October) in two categories:
- Cinematic videodance projects that push the borders of motion image through dance. We accept also animation, short films and 360° films with strong focus on any kind of movement, human and metahuman.
- NEW ONE! videodance film AI generated, film developed with ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE that show the possibilities of crafting dance films with different tools in an embodied mood.

Awards & Prizes

A shortlist of video will be choosed by the organization and judged by a Quality Jury of three experts: IGOR IMHOFF (director and video artist), FABRIZIO FAVALE (choreographer), ELENA CERVELLATI (teacher in performing arts DAMS Bologna), and will become part of the festival programming. The following prizes will be awarded: a cash prize by a Jury composed of three experts, an Audience and Organization Award.

The selected works, in addition to the circuit, will have the opportunity to receive an additional prize from the partner Festival Ritratti D'artista and can be included in the shortlist of films selected for the PRIX VIDA, a videodance award that includes the major Italian videodance festivals.

Rules & Terms

RECIPIENTS
Artists of all ages and nationalities (including artists associated) in the different sections indicated below with a resume assets of at least three years of professional experience (post training).

SECTIONS
We accept videodance works of a maximum duration of 10 minutes. Works will be selected that have a strong focus on editing in relation to choreography or that convey a sense of movement (not necessarily human and choreographic in the strict sense) through the language of cinema and/or animation. There are two sections:
• Video dance projects. We also accept animation, short films and 360° films with a strong focus on any type of movement, human and metahuman. -
• AI-generated video dance films. Works developed entirely or in part with the help of AI that experiment with the possibilities of creating dance films in a synthetic way but with an embodied gaze.

Deadline 15 September 2025. Please be sure to have all the materials requested before sending the inscription.

COPYRIGHT
Subjecting the work, the participant accepts that it can be presented at the Festival and that the material will be published on the festival website or given to the press for promotional purposes. It authorizes the Cinematica Festival and the organizing Association (Ventottozerosei) to store the material and make it available through the Festival web site.
The finalists of the XII edition will be screened in side events on other festival partners. All images rights of the project will remain to the artist. The Organization is also authorized to document through the holding of the event at every stage audio video recordings or images.
