Christine Shin is a bilingual/bicultural Korean filmmaker who writes and directs stories exploring fundamental human conditions and reflecting our shared experiences. Her films have been distributed to iTunes, aired on PBS, and garnered multiple awards, including the Cine Golden Eagle Award.
Born in Korea as a politician's daughter in a conservative family, Christine moved to the US by herself at the age of 16 to pursue filmmaking. While studying at USC, she directed a commercial spot, MOVIE DATE, as one of the ten national finalists for the Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker's Award Contest. JANIE, her coming-of-age drama, screened at various Academy-qualifying festivals such as Heartland Film Festival, LA Shorts Fest, and Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.
Her latest project, FORGET ME NOT, is a story about a precocious seven-year-old Korean girl embarking on a journey to cure her mother's Early-onset Alzheimer's Disease with magic. The script is a category winner of the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest.
Christine's work has been supported by the Korean Film Council, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, and the Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation. She is a Film Independent Fellow, Caucus Foundation Grant recipient, and finalist for the Disney/ABC Directing Program.
