Christine Rodriguez is the award-winning playwright of Dreaming in Autism, which earned third prize at Ottawa Little Theatre’s 72nd National One-Act Playwriting Competition; The Autism Monologues, which received Honourable Mention at the 2018 Montreal Fringe Festival, and Simone, Half and Half, produced by Black Theatre Workshop in 2020, receiving five Montreal English Theatre Award nominations, including one for Outstanding New Text. Her feature screenplay Maya Rising was a "Second Rounder" in the 2021 Austin Film Festival script competition and is a Quarterfinalist in the 2022 Screencraft Horror Competition. Christine’s first short film, FUEGO, completed in 2021, was written and filmed in English, French and Spanish and was an Official Selection at a handful of festivals including the American Black Film Festival in November. She wrote a feature version of the script as part of the WarnerMedia Access x Canadian Academy Writers Program. Christine was also selected to be part of the 2021 Blood in the Snow Development Lab for her screenplay Maya Rising. Most recently, she was awarded a grant from the Rogers - BSO Development Fund to write a pilot for her TV concept Nina’s 80s. She holds a McGill MBA and a Certificate of Professional Screenwriting from UCLA. She’s currently working on obtaining a Major in Hispanic Studies from Université de Montréal. Christine’s work is largely informed by her mixed race heritage and her multicultural environment.
