Chord Exiled: Proof of Concept
Two metal musicians from the American South are caught in the grips of a demonic Muse. This 3 minute proof of concept is a visualizer of the film, following Benji and RJ as they make a lethal deal with the Muse. Shot on location in Jasper Highlands, Tennessee, this short provides just a taste of the peril, musical direction, and emotional core found within the narrative feature.

In all things, Marianne has dwelled in the exiled spaces. She writes for those found in between labels and denominations, who have not yet found their tribe. She’s coming off of her award-winning short film 'Pink', and the theme of building one's own place to belong has never rang more true than in her feature debut 'Chord Exiled'. In every character, every sequence, there shines a beacon for those seeking connection, divinity, and the things that go past appearance.
I’m Marianne. Sketcher, screenwriter, a bit of a ghost. Thanks to my brother, I very much grew up a core kid. There is something unique to be told within this world of religious upbringing and
the metalcore scene that forsakes some of the typical story beats and trappings within musician-focused narratives. My aim is to weave an intimate story with striking visuals, following these two friends who feel their passions worn down under the passage of time, all within the backdrop of the mundane, god-fearing American south. I've taken a page from some of the best visual and aural storytellers in the metalcore scene, and folded their fingerprints into every page of this feature, echoing a universal struggle garbed in a one-of-a-kind shade.
