Director Statement

I always knew that I would become an artistic creator. The right side of my brain was most certainly the most dominate. As a child I was very content so I saw inspiration everywhere. The death of my mother changed the game for me. From that point, and for many years of my life, I was uninspired, and passionless.

This occurrence caused me to make some of the most horrific and detrimental choices of my life. My family was ill equipped to deal with my grief which I wore like an all access pass to wreak havoc on anyone who got in my way. I began this self-destructive at age six, and by age sixteen I was a MONSTER.

I was angry with the world, and acted out that anger on center stage. I did of course have one person that I was most angry with; God. I did not understand how he could allow this to happen. Despite my feelings towards him, he still managed to love me unconditionally. I would not come to truly understand the depths of his love until I experienced each and every aspect of hate.

I would wake up for many years, and choose death over life. God, in Christ Jesus, with his mercy and grace waited for me to finally choose him.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is not a diagnosis reserved for military veterans. There are people who are suffering, and will continue to suffer because of past trauma. Our society is far too advanced to have a continued laissez-faire attitude towards PTSD. We cannot help but pay attention to the symptoms. It is now time for us to take the time to identify the diagnosis. This music video/movie short is the prequel to the award winning screenplay “Choose This Day” Loosely based on my life.
