Chill Qin live at [tei] by O'bond

[tei] by O’bond is a bar that stacks Taiwanese tea and local memories, telling stories of Taiwanese humanities and flavors.

Chill Qin combines ethnic sounds with electronic bass, visiting various places to collect folk songs, legends and myths, integrating Beiguan from temples, Buddhist and Taoist scriptures, Yueqin folk songs, aboriginal chants to Southeast Asian tropical rhythms, crossing multiple styles of music, exploring the diverse connotations of Austronesian culture. He was nominated for the 13th Golden Melody Awards for Best Electronic Album and Best Performance Album.

This time, Chill Qin brings new arrangements of his own works in a Taiwanese Zen space, adding aboriginal mother tongue chanting, echoing in the winding singing in bass, as if penetrating the ocean between the Austronesian islands. This coincides with [tei] by O’bond’s transmission through tea, space and flavor. The historical heritage of Taiwan’s tea drinking culture over the past century overlaps in the same imaginary dimension.

“In that era when sails were raised and headed towards the sea, Taiwanese tea went to various parts of the world via sea routes, allowing many people to hear about Formosa for the first time; long before that, Austronesian ancestors rode on sea surges from here to the endless Pacific Ocean. The ocean takes us to farther places.”

The inspiration for AR (Augmented Reality) creation comes from the Amis tribe’s sun legend. AR is used to accompany music circulation and present images of sun, ocean, harvest and endless life. “At that time, there were ten suns in the sky. Crops could not grow on the earth and the sea was evaporated. People could only hide in caves during the day. Under the capture of warriors with bows and arrows and women with nets, the sun was destroyed leaving only three. Therefore, one became a star and one became a moon as they negotiated with people. They no longer appeared at the same time to burn everything. Since then, the earth has been able to harvest, and the ocean is full of life.”

This is a music performance program that incorporates AR (Augmented Reality) technology to the visual of unique and atmospheric venues, and live performance by top local artists.
