Director Statement

“Creating Chicken Feed was quite the task for me. My main goal with this short was to create something that honors the legacy of the Golden Age of Cartoons, while also honoring the style of Tex Avery, one of the zaniest cartoon directors to have come out of the 1940’s and 1950’s.
Prior to starting this project, I was unsure of what I wanted to do for my film story-wise. Luckily, I got to thinking about it and after thinking about the classic cartoon of Looney Tunes and MGM (Tom & Jerry, Tex Avery, etc.), I was able to come up with the entire story within minutes during a bus ride to Nashville. Production of the short began almost immediately afterwards.
While I view animation as more than just kiddie fare, it takes a lot of time, patience, and most importantly, hard work, especially if you’re doing all of it by yourself over the course of two school semesters.” – Taylor Green, 2018
