We are accepting films that are that have been produced within the last 36 months from new or experienced film makers. We are accepting short films, documentaries, drama, comedy, horror, children’s films, screenplays, web series, music videos and animation. The festival takes place over August 19, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois.

The mission of the Chicago Independent Film Festival is to expand the arts and culture offerings of the city. We hope to make this happen by providing an opportunity for individuals and organizations to come together and celebrate independent films, filmmakers and other local artists. The Chicago Independent Film Festival is designed to include and acknowledge the creative contributions of youth as well as adults while benefiting the community educationally, socially, and economically.

Rules & Terms

We PREFER online screeners, digital copies, or a link to an online video (such as YouTube or Vimeo). Please include a valid password if required.

Films selected will need to provide a High Definition digital copy

All materials submitted become the property of the festival and will not be returned.

More than one entry may be submitted. Each must be submitted with its own entry form and fee.

Entry fee is nonrefundable.

Filmmaker will assume shipping costs to the festival.

Titles produced in languages other than English must have legible English subtitles.

The selection committees’ and juries’ decisions are final.

Chicago Independent Film Festival reserves the right to make any necessary changes in regulations or festival scheduling.

Filmmaker agrees that films entered into the festival may be selected for screening at the festival and may also be screened in other media in association with the promotion of the film festival via live screenings or television.

    I didn't attend, but my screenplay won best feature script. I only found this out because I saw it announced on their website. I sent an email but haven't heard back from them yet. The award status has not been changed yet on Filmfreeway.
