Chibol. Vite di scarti
Chibol is the nickname for the landfill in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, a place where hundreds of men, women, and children are dedicated to the collection and sorting of waste from the cities and tourist resorts in the region. Most of them are of Haitian origin and live in the nearby bateyes, settlements established to house workers from the sugar cane plantations, an industry now in decline. This ethnographic documentary provides a deep and authentic look into the lives of these individuals, highlighting their daily challenges, fears, and dreams.
