Following its launch and a hugely successful first year in 2017, the Chelmsford Film Festival team is now looking forward to making the second year even bigger and better! CFF is dedicated to promoting and screening the very best in current international films, short films and music videos and has an exciting line-up for 2018. The 4-day annual event is a true celebration of film culture and in addition to screenings, will feature talks from industry professionals, special guest speaker, educational events, networking opportunities and an awards ceremony and closing party.

The festival will encourage participation from filmmakers of all levels and backgrounds and will provide an opportunity to inspire a new generation of filmmakers.

Based in the heart of Essex, Chelmsford City is known for its many festivals and events including the renowned V Music Festival. However, the city is probably best known for being the birthplace of broadcast, with Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi inventing the wireless in the 1890’s and making the first entertainment broadcast in June 1920. The Chelmsford Film Festival therefore shares its anniversary month with the first entertainment broadcast!

Throughout the 4-day festival, guests will be able to enjoy the following events:

Wednesday (evening) - Opening Night
Live talks and Q&A’s with industry professionals, special guest interview and presentation of CFF’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema’ award, and the screening of 2018’s officially selected feature film.

Thursday (evening) – Networking Night
A chance for the festival organisers, filmmakers, judges and festival guests to meet and network.

Friday (evening) – Screenings (Session 1)
The first session of this year’s officially selected films.

Saturday (afternoon) – Screenings (Session 2)
The second session of this year’s officially selected films.

Saturday (evening) - Award Show and Closing Gala
Awards ceremony for the winners of CFF 2018, followed by the closing party.

Exact dates to be confirmed soon.

In addition to the events taking place over the 4-day festival, CFF will be holding several events throughout the year in the lead up to CFF 2018, from special movie screenings to quiz nights and networking events. Be sure to check our website and Facebook page for updates.

So, come and join us in our unique city to celebrate the wonderful world of film! We look forward to seeing you there.

I had a truly fantastic time at the Chelmsford Film Festival. The caliber of the films was absolutely top notch, I was a little blown away by the high level of quality. The staff we're super friendly and accommodating, and the communication from them was excellent. I also met some great people, I felt like the festival gave me a real opertuity to meet some of the other film makers and get some inside information on their inspirations and techniques.

All in all a great time had by all.
