Cheep 'n' Chirrup

Cheep ’n’ Chirrup is an experimental short film based on a poem that tells the story of a whispering between a person and a bird. The film incorporates contemporary dance, and although the person and the bird seem unrelated, through their individual expressions, they explore traces of one another.

Director Biography - Fei Wang

Fei was born in Chengdu, China, and currently lives in Melbourne, Australia. She completed her undergraduate studies in Media Arts and Production at the University of Technology Sydney, followed by a Master's in Moving Image at the University of Sydney, where she received the 2021 Master of Moving Image Innovation Award from Sydney College of the Arts. She later earned a Master's degree in Arts and Cultural Management from the University of Melbourne.

Fei’s artistic practice spans short films, photography, and painting. She is deeply passionate about studying and creating experimental films, utilising a diverse range of techniques, including digital, traditional, and animation, to explore both still and moving images. Drawing from her personal experiences, Fei’s work delves into the relationship between herself and the world through experimental and abstract expression. She has also worked at contemporary photography and video art institutions in China and remains closely engaged with the contemporary photography art scene in China and worldwide.
